Don't you just love it when you have a need and your friend has a talent and you put the two together? Problem solved.
And when art is involved, well, it all goes kaboom with creative goodness.
I've wanted a portrait of our Vancouver home. Our realtor commissioned a watercolour of our old house in Toronto as a gift and it was just that - a watercolour of our house. A little too sweet for our taste.
Enter Danielle Krysa to save the day. You probably know her as the Jealous Curator. Not only does she write an amazing blog, she spent much of last year taking her Girl Crush parties across the US. And she's a soon-to-be published author (Creative Block due in early 2014). And (yes there's another "and"!) she's an artist too.
Luckily for me (and you), in addition to amazing multi media collages, Danielle draws houses. Well, not just draws them, she creates original art pieces where a photo of your home is only the beginning.
"I love suburban houses. Love them. I’m not totally sure why. Maybe they make me feel like a kid again. Safe, playing in a back yard, coming in for lunch. I haven’t lived in a house with a backyard since I was a kid, so that must be it".
Gotta love the behind-the-scenes process. Doesn't it make you feel all tingly and inspired?
Pssst....it's a surprise for the man. I think he's going to love it! It's perfect for us - a rendering of our home with some edge to it. An original. A piece of art.
