When the hard work is done

I had on my Life List that I wanted to start an evening Salon. It's here, #16. After I wrote that list I went to Camp Mighty and heard Philippa Hughes speak about what she was doing in DC with the Pink Line Project and how she started with monthly salons.

And then I thought - screw it, I'm going to do this thing. I mean, what's the worst that can happen?

That was late last November.

You know what? It's tonight. My first salon evening is tonight.

I'll tell you in more detail how it all came together in the next few weeks - partly because I'm proud and MOSTLY because I want to inspire YOU to do something in your hometown. Get some creatives together, no matter what the event.

We've got the venue, the entertainment, the music, the food, the sponsors (yes, sponsors! Yay for collaborating with sponsors who "get" what I'm trying to do here) and most of all, we have a charming, creative, intelligent group of attendees.

I'm excited. Today is all about the final details. Dropping off the wine and meeting the caterers there. Making sure I don't forget name tags, the camera and gluten free appy's for one guest.

So happiness for me is working hard at something and then seeing it all come together. Think of us tonight - we'll be "on" from 7-10pm PST. Wish you could be here too!
