Friday Links

View from the Highline in NYC

A good week was had by all. Saw Kurt Elling. (I interviewed him for my masters thesis on creative collaboration in my old academic-y days). Watched some foreign film - I've developed a BIG love for Argentinian film. Smooches to actor Ricardo Darin! And the usual - a bit of working out, a lot of time with the man and the girl. The weather has been perfect, I tell you, perfect, which means lovely 20 minute walks to and from the girl's school.

Let's get started.

T minus 120 days or so til AltSLC! How to attend a conference will help you get you ready.

Forget about learning more Photoshop - Europe's finest city, design and culture bloggers met yesterday in Amsterdam to discuss the urban future. Sniff - wish I coulda been there!

Every drink in Mad Men in under 5 minutes.

Do you create "on demand" or just for you?

Have you seen the WORST retouching of a painting ever? It's now inspired the BEST Halloween costume.

Is this the world's most iconic photographic STUNT?

What can I say, I am on a funk roll right now. This week it's Earth, Wind & Fire from 1975 on the tv show Midnight Special singing Shining Star. That's REALLY singing - no lipsyncing here. LOVE the outfits and the naturals. That'd be the hair.

I have a new series starting next week - I'm always thinking about something new for you, my friends.

I'm all about sharpening my blogging skills and as part of that, next week I start BYW Boot Camp. It's run by the amazing and talented Holly Becker of Decor8 fame. Four weeks of amazing content from Holly, Nicole Balch of Making It Lovely, and Jeanette Lunde of By Fryd. There are still a few spots available - you have until Sunday, October 7th to sign up. Join me!

This weekend we're off to visit the 'rents for Canadian Thanksgiving. Cousins, aunts & uncles, turkey, walks in the country. It'll be good. How about you?

Friday Links - a Little More Funk

Brooklyn Flea Dans parents house
(Brooklyn Flea, baby - July 2012; got to meet Sheri! And it was blazing hot! And they have THE best food and curated goods!)

Where HAS this week gone? Some holidays, some soccer mom stuffs, and the Interior Design Show West. I'll be doing a post or two on that one in the next week or so. I am also patting myself on the back for working out with a trainer THREE times now. We're all about getting in shape for snowboarding, people. Now for some links.

I know it's been a while but what about the oranging of Mad Men?

The six best spoof videos of Downton Abbey - sniff, we don't get to see season 3 til January! Come ON Britain, at least give it to us Canadians - we're still in the Commonwealth!

And photo manipulation BEFORE photoshop! I'll have to miss it but if you are in NYC, the Met is having an exhibit on the same from 11 October 2012 to 27 January 2013.

Unicyle freestyling. Really!

Most tv is unwatchable - at according to the Wire creator David Simon.

Take a funk break with some CLASSIC Tower of Power! THIS will get you moving. LOVE the wocca wocca rhythm guitar riff and the tight brass section.

And the weekend?  More interior design show stuffs - a bloggy get together. It's STILL sunny here in the PNW so there'll be MORE bike riding. And maybe, just maybe, I'll finish off season 4 of Breaking Bad. How about you?
